朝鮮正祖時期，沒落貴族之女金允熙，為了照顧體弱多病的弟弟金允植而女扮男裝靠寫文章養家糊口。為了掙更多的錢，她準備替別人違規代考。可是必須得進京參加科舉，在去科舉的過程中，金允熙得到了被稱為朝鮮最高的女婿候選人，左議政大人的兒子李先埈的幫助。不知道是不幸還是萬幸，第一次科舉考試允熙竟然及格了，不但如此，她的答卷還得到了國王的賞識，她被命令和李先埈一起到禁止女子入內的成均館去念書，並且和李先埈成為了室友。她對李先埈日久生情，李先埈卻把她看做好兄弟。可是， 漸漸地，李先埈也開始對金允熙有了一些超越友情的特殊情感，李先埈的內心開始變得有些混亂了。
